Based on size of the group you find yourself in, what are the best types of government structures after an ELE? Does the type of disaster matter? _________________ -Randy |

IMO – democracy never solved a damn thing, it just prolonged the inevitable, which is all governments fail eventually because of the greed, avarice and corruption of those in power.
One of the most misquoted sayings is that “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Actually this is a misquote of Sun Tsu, it is in fact, “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely those who are afraid to use power wisely and for good.”
I find that a democratic Republic works very well, followed by a charismatic dictatorship. _________________ The 4 inches of gray matter between your ears is your primary weapon, everything else is for expediency |

Assuming there is a massive breakdown in society and mass casualties. I am thinking along the lines of an Indian style of government. Mainly for the preservation and survival aspect that that type of government seems to engender. The more I look into it it appears to be tailor made for an ELE survivor organization and a means of preserving knowledge. _________________ Goz

I was going to post a big long response, but, Goz, could you explain what is an "Indian style of government"? _________________ The 4 inches of gray matter between your ears is your primary weapon, everything else is for expediency |

Please correct me if i am wrong. But wasn't it the Indians that survived a lot of things that happened to them. The Indians weren't focused on GREED, unlike our current government.
But please correct me if i am wrong about the Indians. :) _________________ The will to survive is the greatest asset you have. |

Well bearing in mind that I am still exploring the Indian government concept. Things like a council of Grandmothers were the ones that could declare if a tribe went to war. Or that tribes had societies or clubs that shared a common purpose for instance one club which had chapters in the other tribes had a duty to fight and die in case the tribe was attacked they were to be a rear guard to allow the rest of the tribe to get away. And you had Shamans to help in healing and grandfathers to tell and pass on important stories and info to the next generation. At this point it's not well thought out because I am lacking in info but combined with some real world experience I have it is looking like the Indians had an effective form of SURVIVAL government. Now that is an important distinction because if you wanted to build a pyramid then you would need a different type of organization or focus. at any rate I am still mulling a lot of this in my mind. _________________ Goz

The American Indians had (have) a unique form of "government". It would be difficult for white man to understand it in its entirety. The Europeans follow the Roman version of government that separates the physical of the person from the spiritual. The Americans Indians (and the Celts incidently) couldn't grasp this concept. And thus they were very exposed to white mans innate ability to lie.
The Indian individuals all had a function, and worked as a cog in a big wheel, no one, including the chief was more important than another.
Indian culture is virtually all but assimilated into white mans culture, with but a few vestiges left. Ironically, now many whites are grasping the Indians way of life - and spirituality as well - as a way of life. The Indians had it right all along. For those of you who are interested, the Celts virtually mirror the American Indian with the exception that the Celts were stationary, and many of the Indian tribes were nomadic. _________________ The 4 inches of gray matter between your ears is your primary weapon, everything else is for expediency |
