Scheduled discussion topics are going to be initiated for directed discussions. By nature of the subject matter we are interested in, the sheer volume of topics to be covered is intimidating. By breaking discussion down into topics each month, we hope to give everyone the chance to contribute to as many facets of each topic as possible, and keep us all on the same page, so to speak.
We will publish the next topic a month ahead of time, so if you are so inclined, you can research and/or prepare long posts on the next topic. The next months topic will be locked until the appropriate time, however, to keep discussion on the current topic. Multiple subtopics can be started in different threads under the main topic to cover all information possible.
For instance, the July 2007 topic will be Food. The range of subtopics includes soil prep, planting, growing crops, harvesting, storing, livestock, and any other topics directly related to Food. We will concentrate on this topic for the month of July, and in August, we will move on to the August topic. All old topics will be saved for reference.
Input regarding the process is welcome, although we may not change anything until after a month or two of evaluation period.
We hope this gives more organization to the learning process.
